I had, as the tune goes, high hopes for Acronis 2016, after reading all the enthusiastic reviews from both magazines and individuals.
Those hopes soared even higher after perusing the well-organized and nicely-composed documentation.
And then, when I viewed the fabulous interface, I was so breathless that I could hardly wait to create the first image of my wife's new laptop, an HP Stream with a small 32GB SSD.
The backup, including validation, proceeded apace -- one to a 64GB memory card, the other to an external USB2.0 drive.
"Watch this hon," I said, as I clicked Restore. "If ever you download a bad app, or some of your files become corrupted, or you've downloaded a virus, all you need do is click this button to restore your SSD to its previous state from either of these .tib files."
"That's cool,' she replied.
Except it wasn't.
Acronis was "unable to read" either of the .tib files
A neat window popped up with a series of numbers which described the error, and I was prompted to click okay to automatically send the error to the Acronis website.
That was cool.
Except it wasn't.
The web site informed us that it had no information re that particular error, so I was invited to go to the Knowledge Base or the Community Forum, neither of which I currently have time to do.
