Arrived yesterday and now that it is at room temp ready to hook up. A few 101 Q's.

A few cables came with the monitor. Should I use the DVI or the D-Sub? Isn't the D-Sub the same as VGA?

The monitor does have audio, but since I have speakers will not use that option.

No HDMI cable shipped, but does have that option. Guess I need to get one.

There is a USB 3 cable because of the USB 3 ports. But, wondering if best to keep the setup I have now with the USB 3 extender plugged into the back of the computer. Would that be faster than using the ports on the monitor?

Thanks.

EDIT:
From the set up info:
For the best picture quality set your LCD display timing mode to:
VESA 2560 x 1440 @ 60 Hz (DVI/Display)
VESA 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz (HDMI)
VESA 2048 x 1152 @ 60 Hz (D-sub)

DVI - and set you desktop to that resolution. You shouldn't need an HDMI cable.

The DVI may give better quality, depending upon the source.

Yes.

Certainly not slower.

Thanks for all of the help. Crispy colors!!!! The monitor came pre-calibrated. How do I save the settings? It does seem a tad bright. I plan on calibrating with the Spyder based on my room ambient light.

I would be very interested in a mini review a someone who is not used to reviewing monitors all day. Is the difference noticeable - What about in day to day use? Any downsides? Does it just become the norm until you look at another monitor and it just looks flat?

Thanks.

Chris, I will post a mini review in about a month. I am curious how the calibration works with the Spyder. So far, things seem a tad bright and saturated. Maybe that is coming from the older TN monitor?
