Can't get rid of pesky file

Postby BuddyB » Sat Oct 05, 2013 5:46 am

Somewhere along the way an app, unawares mind you, was downloaded to my computer. It is called OTShot. It presents itself as and email app, and I don't think it's really anything other than malware. No matter what I do I just can't get it gone. Search will not find it, but when I go into Programs X86 on the C Drive it's there, a folder. I've tried deleting the folder, then going inside and deleting the alleged app. First it will say you must have Admin Privileges, then it will say file is open and won't allow. It initially pops up on the Desktop booting into windows, then I'm asked if I want to download stuff out of Outlook, not a good sign. Other than at the bootup it doesn't seem to cause any issues. The program won't open. I haven't tried to get rid of it in Safe Mode yet, will later. Any thoughts appreciated. PS: Malwarebytes nor AVG see it. Thanks

If the above doesn't work, post back. I can give you some other suggestions.

Thanks for the input, and sorry it took me so long to respond. My days off are Tues & Wed, and the rest of the time I'm working a great deal of overtime. I do not get to spend near as much time on my pooter as I'd like. I did get the issue resolved (finally) and my thanks is not sufficient for what you guys avail yourself of for us.
