Adobe Reader Update

Postby Greg mgm » Sat Sep 14, 2013 7:32 pm

Hello,

This morning I had a window open on my Windows XP machine saying to update Adobe Reader. It looked legit, so I did the update, and now I'm having odd issues with websites not loading correctly. Muvipix is the worst. It loads as a list of links. My news sites open without the headers and one news site opens jumbled. The problem may or may not be a virus/ trojan, not sure. I uninstalled reader, ran Malwarebytes, Avast, and Superantispyware. Superantispyware showed tracking cookies but no trojans. I also rolled my computer back a day with no difference. Any ideas what may have happened?

Try System Restore.

I did Adobe Reader updates on one XP and one W7 Pro machine yesterday with no issues.

Adobe Reader update just today on WIn 7 home edition. So far all is good. Greg, restart computer and see if that helps.

I did system restore to a previous date, no change. Restarted many times, no change. Very odd problem!

The website loading issues are with Firefox. When I use IE, it loads but bogs down really bad. I'll keep looking into this. Thanks for the replies.

Not sure if this is a temporary or permanent solution, but everything loaded correctly after clearing the website cache in Firefox. Had to do some research to learn this, but so far so good.

Greg,
Thanks for posting your solution. Clearing the Firefox cache also worked for me.

Background - I experienced similar weird display results for muvipix today when using Firefox (23.0.1) on a Windows 7 laptop. I had updated Adobe Reader on the 11th: not sure if I had viewed muvipix from this laptop since then.

Good to hear Barb. Lucky for us it wasn't a virus....at least I hope it wasn't!
