Unpartioning HD

Postby BuddyB » Sat Jun 01, 2013 6:26 am

I have an HD with 2 partitions, both about 150 gigs each. I would like to unpartition so that it's all one drive. I've right clicked on each of the drive windows and I don't see any help. I did reformat the 2 partitions to get rid of the info on them. Any ideas? Thanks.

If you're using windows - and you don't mind loosing the data (which it sounds like because you've reformatted them) then you can use the disk management tools. (Type Disk Management into the start menu). There you can delete the two partitions and re-create a new one of the entire size. Other third party tools will do the same job - some allowing dynamic resize of partitions - YYMV.

Chris, that couldn't have been easier, thanks. If yer not careful it appears you can really mess stuff up in Disk Mgmt. This is why I'm slow to do things, especially things I've not done before.:)

Yes - disk management has the ability to really break a system. Repartitioning and keeping the data is a much harder process.
