One of my monitors crashed and burned this morning, so I'm in the market for a new flat panel .. probably 19". Any advice on brands that tend to be good .. or ones that should be avoided? I'm doing my homework on the Internet, but interested in experience that folks have had. Also, I'm not familiar with the widescreens .. would that provide more real estate for Premiere Elements? .. I'm using a dual monitor system, so would a widescreen make sense .. and are they worth the extra $$ ? Any input would be useful.

As most everyone knows, I am a huge fan of the Dell Outlet. I just purchased 2 monitors from there, both 19" flat panels for $179 each and free shipping.
Circuit city has (not sure if the deal is still on) a very nice 22" widescreen flat panel for $250

Thanks John and Chuck. I ended up purchasing the Samsung 226BW (22" widescreen). I know I could have saved a buuunch of money buying online, but I really needed it working tonite! .. and had several questions for which the CompUSA guys were EXTREMELY helpful.
Chuck .. how is the Dell Outlet store different. Is it just 'specials'?

The best values out there now are from an upstart Korean company called LG. I picked up a couple of factory reconditioned 19" LG Flatrons with 1400:1 contrast for about $150 each at http://www.pricewatch.com (my first stop for computer parts and accessories).

The Samsung monitor will be great, you will love it I'm sure. Did you get it from Circuit City on sale? The Dell Outlet sells; returns, scratch and dent, refurbished and similar items. Sometimes you can get great deals of 50% off and more

Super! Glad I picked a good one! There was soooo much to choose from. Steve Grisetti wrote:The best values out there now are from an upstart Korean company called LG.
Yes, I looked at a couple of those .. looked pretty good .. and I've heard they rank in the top brands. Chuck Engels wrote:The Samsung monitor will be great, you will love it I'm sure. No sale at CompUSA . I know I left a bunch of money on the table by walking into the store .. but I walked out happy. I remember you've mentioned the Dell Outlets before. Hopefully I can remember that the next time I'm out looking.
