Converter for HV30 Firewire to iMac?I want to connect my HV30 camcorder to our iMac but the FireWire port on the iMac doesn't work with our cable. What kind of connector/cable do I need?

Re: Converter for HV30 Firewire to iMac?Hi Ron,
There are 4 pin connectors and 6 pin connectors. 4 pin is small and 6 pin is rather large. there are cables that go 6 pin to 6 pin, 4 pin to 4 pin, and 6 pin to 4 pin. Evidently there are even 9 pin connectors but I have never used or seen one myself. http://www.mycablemart.com/store/cart.p ... QAodcHZPfw What type of cable do you have now and what type do you think you may need? My guess is that you have a 4 pin to 6 pin but need a 4 pin to 4 pin 1. Re: Converter for HV30 Firewire to iMac?Thanks Chuck! The iMac has a "Firewire 800" port so I presume I'll need the 9 pin (Firewire 800) to 4pin (HV30 DV out) cable.

Re: Converter for HV30 Firewire to iMac?Yup, that sounds like the correct solution alright
I haven't had any equipment with a 800 port yet, nice to know now that I would need new cables if I do ever have one, Thanks for the heads up 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
