Recording narration on an iMacI will be switching from PC to iMac this Christmas, will install Premiere Elements 15. I see that the iMac does not have a Mic input. I have a nice Sony mic that I have always used with the PC. What is the best way to record narration on the Mac?
Re: Recording narration on an iMacDoes the iMAC have a USB input? You can always pick up a nice "BLUE" mic or Amazon has 3.5mm adapter to USB so you can keep using you Sony Mic.

Re: Recording narration on an iMaciMacs include a number of USB ports. So I agree with Sidd. A good USB microphone is your best bet.
I love my CAD U37. Excellent sound quality for under $40. 3.4 ghz i7-4770 running Windows 10 64-bit with 12 gigs RAM; three internal 500 gig SATA drives. Also iMac 2.6 ghz dual-core, 4 gigs of RAM, running OSX El Capitan and Boot Camp Windows 10 64-bit.
Re: Recording narration on an iMacOK, thanks Steve and Sidd,
Will try a USB Mic when I get my Mac. Kay
Re: Recording narration on an iMacBut if you like your Sony mic the 3.5mm to usb adapters are only $6 USD on Amazon

Re: Recording narration on an iMacSounds like an adapter would be worth trying. My Sony mic uses a battery. Should that cause any problems with the USB/Mic input?

Re: Recording narration on an iMacI am guessing your Sony mic is a condenser mic?
This should not interfere if you use the USB adapter. Sidd "Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist.

Re: Recording narration on an iMacYes, it is called an Electret Condenser Microphone ECM-144. I just want to be sure the power from the mic battery doesn't conflict with the USB power in some unfortunate way.
