Vegas Sound Forge Audio Studio 10

Postby hpharley90 » Sun Aug 29, 2010 3:36 pm

Correct me if I'm wrong but I am assuming that I can take an Audio clip from my Vegas Movie Studio time line that I would like to try and remove some wind noise or for that matter add effects too. Is that correct?

If it is how would I go about doing that?
Thanks
Richard

When I right click the audio clip and then left click '"Open in Audio Editor" I get the error below.

In Vegas, go to preferences audio tab and add the path to an external audio editor, such as Sound Forge.

Then in Vegas you can right-click on the audio clip and select "Open in Audio Editor" or "Open Copy in Audio Editor."

In Sound Forge you won't see the video portion, but you can "attach" it by going to the file menu and selecting "Attach Video" and navigating to the original video clip on your computer and selecting it.

You may not need to use Sound Forge as there are plenty of audio effects already in Vegas MS. Just right-click on the audio clip in Vegas MS, then select "Apply non-real-time event FX."

For removing wind noise, use Paragraphic EQ in Vegas MS. I can't tell you how to use it, but I kind of got the gist of it by downloading Magix Video Audio Cleaning Lab and studying the Wind Removal tool.

EDIT: This is in response to your first post.

Robert again thanks for the very useful explanation.

I will look into that Paragraphic EQ in Vegas MS tonight.
Thanks
Richard

The reason the audio from .m2t wasn't accepted is that the audio has to be converted to .wav first, which Vegas MS will do automatically for you.

I also just found out that not all video formats can be attached to the audio in Sound Forge. You'll see what video formats are accepted when you select "Attach Video" from the file menu in Sound Forge.

Very good to know.
I'm looking into it now.
Thanks

I just used the 10 band EQ to do a pretty good job for the first time trying it.
I pulled the 3 lowest frequencies all the way down and the other 7 in the middle.
I can hear the wind noise reduction in the clip but I don't know how to apply to clip and save that setting to the clip.
I save my preset in EQ window with its own name close window and wind noise returns in clip.
Thanks
Richard

I'm not sure which application you are in now. You need to explain where you are and how you got there. When you say you "closed the window," did you click OK and then File > Save and then File > Exit?

And beware. Did you select to edit a copy of the audio clip? If you don't select to edit a copy, then the original clip will be modified.

I'm sorry. I got ahead of myself.
I'm in VMS and here are some screen shots of my procedure.
button.jpg

A drop down menu opens and I left click Plug-in Chooser.
Then this window opens with all audio effects.
I click GraphicEQ
grpheq.jpg

Then graphic EQ opens and I pull three lowest bands down give new pre set name and save.
When I am changing settings it happens real time. I can hear changes as I make them. When I close EQ window setting reverts back to original.
I don't know how to save to clip.

Earlier I mention that you can apply effects to clips by right-clicking on the audio clip on the timeline and selecting "Apply non-real-time event FX," after which you can choose your effect.
