That is quite a list! Saw about 16 or 17 in concert, some more than once (can't remember exactly). Marshall Tucker and REO always put on a great concert. REO is from rural Illinois. As for Chicago, well, didn't care for them much in the 70's....their music was overplayed. Our school band played their songs at games and being on the dance team had to perform routines to them on occasion  . Youngest plays their music on her flute just to annoy me :)

Never was a Zappa and the Mothers fan, Captain Beefheart either.
At least they just aren't in the top 50, these are albums that I owned more than one of because I wore them out.
There is not a single Beatle album in the mess either, but they would make the top 100 with the White Album for sure, probably Revolution also.
Just added Zeppelin to the list :)
How about your top 10 or so John :)

Ooops, that is what I meant
I was thinking of Revolution #9 and Revolver all at the same time ](*,)

If I picked my top 50 favorite songs of all time Revolution #9 would probably be one of them, top 100 for sure.

I'd trade both the White Album and Abbey Road for a good, clean copy of Rubber Soul.

Rubber Soul was a good album.
Guess I come from a different perspective (or is it a different era :confused5:
Without naming albums, I'd add
Neil Diamond
Barry Manilow
Dionne Warwick
Anne Murray

You forgot the greatest album of all-time: "Tales from Topographic Oceans" by Yes.

And we won't even get into Sabbath, Cream or Hendrix.

Or Jean-Luc Ponty or Michael Franks.

Or Dream Theater.

(Ecclectic taste much?)

Incidentally, we actually had REO play at a mixer at my high school (in suburban Chicago) when they were just another garage band, before they hit it big.

Hmm, artists is relatively easy, LPs (albums) more difficult, so I'll go for artists in no particular order:-

Beefheart, Cream (and Clapton generally), FZ, Incredible String Band, Led Zep, John Mayall, Pink Floyd, Stones, Velvet Underground, Yes.

After that lot you would probably find it very difficult to believe that I also love opera, my favourite being Donizetti's Lucia di Lammamoor. :-D

Gerry I'm a big fan of Yes myself.
In fact It was their 1972 or 1973 North American tour when I purchased a T shirt with their "Yes" logo on the front and written underneath 1972 or1973 North American tour.(don't remember exactly)
A car painter friend painted that Yes logo on my 1965 Mustang right behind the drivers side window and looked just like the T shirt. He did a real good job.
I just remembered it was "73". "The Close to the Edge tour"
Anyway I used to be a big fan and saw Yes live at least 5 times in the 70"s.

When I went to see the Tales from Topographic Oceans show in "74" I couldn't wait for the show to end.
That is all they played with a "Roundabout" encore.
The album being a double album set with only one song on each side if I remember correctly amounted to a 5 song show.
Very boring to me.
Great album sleeve though.
I went and saw the Relayer tour with Patrick something or another replacing Rick Wakeman on keyboards.
And that was the last time I saw "Yes".

I'd like to give my top 5 bands now.
Albums are too difficult.

Led Zeppelin
Beatles
Hendrix
Cream
I can't think of a fifth. It's much to difficult. Too many are my favorites.
If a song by any of those 4 above would come on the radio in the car today when I'm by myself I'll still raise the volume. :-D
Thanks
Richard

I know I usually all about the music but this is too hard for me. I love all kinds of music with the exception of rap. New and old, fast and slow. I can say I'm a huge Beatles fan so they would top my list. Buffett is also a fun genre (I consider his stuff in its own genre) my husband got me into.

But aside from those 2 I'm not even going to attempt listing my faves.
Happy Editing,

Beth

Either my age or the lack of a musical ear is showing. Chuck, I never even heard of about 1/3 of the people on your list.
