Putting files back in a camera

Postby mark hansen » Thu Nov 11, 2010 1:21 pm

OK, I got a wild idea...

I have a sony AVCHD camera and I can download the video images. when I do, I get a bunch of m2ts and modd files. I have been able to congert them to AVI and use them...

Is there a way to put them back in the camera and play them from the camera again?

When I connect the camera back via USB, it shows up as a hard drive and has a file/folder structure. But when I look around for the folder to put them in, I can't find files with the same extension. (of course it wouldn't be as easy as that.)

Is this even possible? Perhaps the files get converted on the way out and are not readable by the camera any more. I don't know.

I don't know that Premiere Elements can create true AVCHD files, Mark, so I don't know of any way to port the video back into your camcorder.

As far as I know, that feature is only available with tape-based camcorders -- and, with the record function being disabled on many of the newer models, even that is going away. sorry.

I checked the manual and didn't see anything about it.

when I connect USB it becomes another hard drive (like the old thumb drives) so I was hoping I could move the m2ts files back. When I looked in the camera hard drive, I didn't' see any m2ts files even though I have video files in the camera.

I assume they get converted in someway as they come out. Oh well, it was worth a shot.
