Canon Elura 100 Mic and Mixing Board

Postby cartess3 » Sat Aug 11, 2007 12:51 am

I probably made a poor decision in purchasing this thing, the people at the store convinced me I could use this for video (microphone).

I have a canon elura 100 that has the microphone port (1/8th), and now i have this mixer, and I have a "large-diaphragm studio Condenser Mic".

We'll be dropping this condenser mic from the ceiling (out of site from the camera's view) to conduct interview between two people.

I can't figure out how to connect this thing to my canon elura 100, here is a view of the mixer board:

and here is the rear view:

Will this setup work or did I screw up and buy the wrong thing?

Sorry if I have misunderstood and this is not the solution to your problem but, if the microphone plug is a mini-jack, then to plug it (the mic) into the mixer you will need to obtain a mini-jack to jack converter/adaptor. Her is a picture:-

You just need either a 1/8 (mini jack) to 1/4 inch converter or a 1/8 to xlr converter. Converting to xlr is a bit more expensive.

If you are close to a radio shack if is $3.00 solution.

Just remember that you are now recording in Mono so you will have to adjust your volume pan to have the voice in both channels.
