Hi,
I am looking to buy a used (very low hours) DSR-11.
Anyone have any thoughts on this DVCAM Recorder/Player?
(My attraction for it is that it does ntsc and pal, in and out.)

Re: SONY DSR-11 DVCAM Record/Playback machine, ANY GOOD?If you need DVCAM playback and PAL/NTSC versatility, then it's a good unit for that. If, on the other hand, you're just looking for a miniDV playback unit to save the wear on your camcorder's heads, a cheap miniDV camcorder is a much more economical option. I bought a Canon ZR800 ($150 brand new) to play/capture tapes from my Sony PD170. Although my PD170 can record in DVCAM, I don't use it unless I'm delivering to a TV station. The only practical difference between miniDV and DVCAM is that DVCAM records at a faster tape speed, spreading out the data and shortening tape length while (possibly) reducing the chance of a dropped frame. So far, I've recorded hundreds of hours of DV with my PD170 and never had a dropped frame.
