The Sanyo is over 15 years old now and still works perfectly.
They don't make 'em like that anymore. Can you imagine being able to say that in 15 years about any of the TVs sold today?

Re: What would you do?Dave,
I have a 27" Scott TV in the basement that has been one of the best TVs I've ever owned. Bought it at Kmart in 1990, I think it cost about $500 at the time. At the same time we bought a very nice Fisher VCR and a JVC ProLogic Surround Sound receiver (5.0) from Best Buy. The VCR and Surround Sound Receiver have been gone a few years now but not the TV. The color and picture are perfect, as good as any Sony. We have given that TV to a few people to use over the years and it keeps coming back, still in the same good condition as always. Also still have a Toshiba 13" that belonged to my wife's grandparents, think it was from somewhere between 1978 and 1983. That still works great too and even has a remote 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
Re: What would you do?I'm pretty confident that, in another ten years, our landfills will be overflowing with perfectly functional TVs that people just tossed out when they replaced them with even bigger models.

Re: What would you do?
Not in New York State. It's illegal to put a tv, computer, or rechargeable battery in a landfill. Recycling is required.
