Hi! I'm new here and have a major problem. I have a digital camera that takes some movies too - and just started with premiere elements and joined this sight. It as so much fun - I ran out and got a Sony camcorder that comes in as mpeg and premiere won't download those movies - says there is an error. What can I do to correct that? Please help if I can't use the movies in premiere - all my fun is going down the drain with a useless camcorder.

I suggest that you post the model number of the Sony camcorder.

There are various considerations based on whether it is a DVD recording camcorder or a Hard Drive Camcorder and whether it is an HD or Standard Definition recording. I have used Sony Hard Drive SD mpeg2 video in Premiere Elements 3. However, I don't think that Premiere Elements will support all of the possible formats from Sony camcorders.

Others on this forum know more in this area than I do, so it will be a good start for you to post the model number and info about the format in which you recorded so people can provide more specific assistance.

And, of course, it also helps to know how you're capturing the video into your computer and which version of Premiere Elements you're using.
