Re: Converting LPs to CDsI did it with the RCA-jacks-to-Sound-Card cable (I got it at Radio Shack). I did have to connect the turntable to my amplifier and the amplifier to the sound card. The turntable by itself need an amplification.
For software, I tried Audacity, but Nero's Wave Editor worked better for me. It had some filters to remove snaps, crackles & pops; and a customizable filter. The best way to filter unwanted sounds was to sample the sounds made between tracks, and use that as input to the customizable filter. I believe I also used "normalize" to get the volume the same between albums. When I was done filtering and converting the WAV files to MP3s, the songs sounded better than they did coming straight off the albums!
