Tv Show Theme Songs

Postby videolady » Fri Jul 13, 2012 7:46 pm

Many of my videos (glorified slide shows) use favourite music of the person which often includes their favourite tv shows growing up.

I used to get tv show theme songs from You Tube using Vittomp3 (free) that separated the music from the video. Apparently in mid-June, You Tube put some blockers on this type of stuff (?). So I went to iTunes to try and legitimately buy them but this reminded me why I went o You Tube in the first place - iTunes doesn't have the real TV show intro that eveyone will associate with.

Does anyone know where I can get this type of music now? Specifically, Blossom and Full House for my current project.

I downloaded the full videos thinking I could Ungroup the audio and video in PrEl10 but they are in flv and PrEl10 won't accept that format. Is there a free software convertor for this maybe?

Depending on what sound card you have it is very possible to record what you hear on your computer.
You can do this with a simple program called Audacity which is free. You can then save the file as a WAV and use in any Premiere Elements project.

Many sound cards have removed this ability so there is a question as to whether you can do this or not.
After installing Audacity you should have an option to record either "Stereo Mix" or "What You Hear".
If either of those options are available you are good to go, if not I'm afraid you won't be able to use this solution.

If you have any questions there are many Audacity users here :)

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

I quickly looked around for "stereo mix" or "what you hear". Where do I find them if I have the option?

Here's a tutorial for how to use Audacity to record audio playing on your computer. This covers how to set up the computer and use Audacity: http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/tutorial_recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer.html

Ladies and Gentlemen...sheer genius! Once again I have easily overcome a video project obstacle due to the muvipix community's help!!!!!

Peru, thanks for the Amazon link but they are not the originals but I would have used them if I wasn't able to use Audacity.

Bob, Chuck: Audacity didn't work on my laptop, but my soundscard was good on my desktop (editing) computer so I followed the tutorials and ...SUCCESS!!

Many, many thanks AGAIN!

Thanks, Chuck.

FYI, I listed the Audacity Wiki link because it is for the current download of Audacity (version 2.0.1). The Muvipix tutorial was recorded with Audacity version 1.2.4.

I didn't realize a new version of Audacity was released.
The older version only supported Windows 7 in Beta.

Thanks for the info, Bob.

The user interface is very similar to the beta 1.3 version. The most obvious difference being the new Device Toolbar which consolidates all the functions of selecting audio host, input device, output device and number of input channels. v2.x also has a new Mixer Board view with per-track VU meters.

Version 2.x is fully compatible with Windows 7 and it appears to be more stable than the older versions. It even has an automatic crash recovery feature. They have also improved a number of the effects. It's well worth upgrading.

Wow, going to upgrade for sure. I had been using 1.3 for quite some time.
Thanks for the heads up Bob, I have just the project for the updated version :)

I am helping a friend, Larry Heagle, put an old record album of his onto CD.
It is not just an old album, it is actually the first LP he recorded back in about 1980.
He has recorded a few others since then and the most recent in 2003.
He is a very popular comedian, singer, songwriter in the Midwest, especially Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.
The album is kind of Midwestern Country Blues, some really great songs. Larry's influences are John Prine and Tom Waits, so you might get the kind of music this is. He has a cute song that got a lot of regional airplay called "The Wood Tick Song".

Fast Forward to 2014 and there is a program called YouTube downloader that is freeware (download from CNET) that allows you to create an audio file of the music.
