How can I make a wind shield for this camera

How can I make a wind shield for this cameraThis is my current camera of choice. The picture quality is fantastic but what I really love is its compact size and the ease with which I can get my footage into the PC. One thing that's not too good is the microphones sensitivity to the wind. The rectangle of holes is where the microphone is situated. I have often seen the professionals using those fluffy microphone socks to minimise wind noise and I was wondering could I make a similar small cap for my camera? Any suggestions as to the type of material that might work well would be appreciated. I propose to use sticky tape to secure it to the camera when needed. Shrimpy
Re: How can I make a wind shield for this cameraI'd try putting a little scotch tape over the holes for the microphone.
Re: How can I make a wind shield for this cameraSome fluffy material over the mic held to either side with velcro.

Cotton wool loosely attached with Sellotape (so the cotton wool keeps its 'bulk', if you see what I mean). But do remove it when not needed to avoid 'glue residue' from the Sellotape. AMD Ryzen 3900x 12C/24T, ASUS x570 mobo, Arctic Liquid Freezer ll 280, Win11 64 bit, 64GB RAM, Radeon RX 570 graphics, Samsung 500GB NVMe 980 PRO (C:), Samsung 970 Evo SSD (D:), Dell U2717D Monitor, Synology DS412+ 8TB NAS, Adobe CS6.
Re: How can I make a wind shield for this cameraI suppose instead of using velcro you could use some elasticated band/material to hold the fluffy stuff on.
Re: How can I make a wind shield for this cameraIf your solution involves using tape I would recommend using the blue painters tape as it will not leave any adhesive residue on the camera.

Re: How can I make a wind shield for this cameraAnything that would deflect the wind from entering the holes would probably help. You see several types of wind socks for microphones. Besides the fluffy ones, you often see polyurethane foam covers. If you look around, you can find open cell polyurethane foam sheets for sale. It's sometimes called speaker foam or filter foam. They come in various thicknesses starting at about 1/4 inch (6mm). I'd try a small strip of that to cover the microphone holes and see if that helped. If it works well enough, you could devise a clip to hold it on or use rubber bands or such.
Re: How can I make a wind shield for this cameraThese are good suggestions. I will give them a try and pronounce the winner !
