I just select DV/DVCPRO-NTSC and get good results.

BTW, "DV" that you can export from Quicktime Pro is now recognized in Premiere Elements 7. The file has .dv for an extension.

the converted clip is playing smoothly in PE7. However, as soon as I alter the clip with an effect or split clip, I receive an unknown compiling error when I try to render. Any ideas?

From what I understand, DV from Quicktime is "RAW" DV with no wrapper.

if this can help anybody, my "workaround" was to batch process all the QT converted avi's through VDub. That solved the problem but from what I understand about QT Pro, the vdub conversion should not be necessary.
