Title with Shadow

Postby Chris B » Sat Jun 02, 2012 10:30 am

Here's a quick effect that I saw elsewhere and wanted to replicate. Done in PE8.

The basic idea is an animated title of some description with a shadow on a "floor" below. There are 3 tracks
Track 1 - A white background with grey ramp on it for interest.
Track 3 - An animated title of some description. I used the built in "quick" effects with a "light effect" animated onto it.
Track 2 - A copy of the title on track 3 with increased contrast, then made black and white Gaussian Blurred (to make look like a shadow) then rotated on the x axis with basic 3d to "skew" it then moved to put it in the "right" place.

Tracks 2 and 3 are keyframed to provide a slow zoom. A bit of smartsound audio and a couple of fades completes the effect.

That was very nice. Good job. Now, I have to figure out how to do that with Vegas Movie Studio 11.

I did it first in Vegas Pro - relatively easy because of the 3D compositing built in. Studio is a little harder. I've got Studio Platinum v 10 and that comes with a NewBlu Image mapper than can be used to apply the skew required for the shadow.

You can use the Sony Gradient for the background, The top track as you text, and a copy of the title on the middle track (as a reference to the top track rather than a copy). The middle track needs contrast fiddled with to make it black and white and the Gaussian blur and you can use the image mapper as per the picture below. You'll need to keyframe some zoom on the track motion and/or the image mapper for the zoom.

Great job Chris :TU: Looks like it was done in a 3D program.
