I think that did it Bob, renaming the xml files.
You will see what I am talking about when you look at the version 7 folder structure and file names.
At least they actually made it easier, with all of the files going into the same folder :)

Thanks, Chuck. I seem to remember renaming that xml file. I wonder if an older zip file without the correction got uploaded. I've got an appointment with the optometrist and have to leave right now, I'll check it out as soon as I get back. Could you verify the correct folder location for me?

The folder that the actions go into is the same folder that the xml files go into.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Photo Creations\photo effects

Version 6 has a
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\en_US\Photo Creations Metadata
folder, but version 7 does not. Version 6 xml files do not need to be renamed, they do not include the .metadata.xml in the name like the version 7 files do.

Got it to work in version 7 by renaming the xml files and putting all of the files into the
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Photo Creations\photo effects folder.

Chuck,

I just downloaded the PSE layer mask zip file using the link in this thread (http://muvipix.com/cpg/albums/userpics/10045/Bobs_PSE_Layer_Masks.zip)and it looks like everything was corrected the last time I uploaded the file back in 2008. The v7 xml files have the metadata.xml ending, the directory specified in the instructions is the same as the one you specified, and the xml and atn files all go into the same directory.

Would you please do me a favor and download the file again and check the files and instructions in the V7 folder to verify that something weird is not happening to me and that you get the same file I do?

Thanks!

Bob, I didn't even check for an update and didn't remember that you had done that.

I will download the file to be sure, but the last version I had only included through V6.
As I really don't use version 7 there wasn't a need to download the actions again, sorry for the confusion.
Glad to know that you had already made the changes :TU:

So where were we then?
Jag, I did get it to work in version 7 :)

Bob, Instead of Out of Bounds you changed them all to Layer Masks? They are still the same actions right?
Everything is there for version 7 but I was expecting the Out of Bounds file names.

It's nice to know that the v6 files work and all you have to do is change the file names and location of the metadata files :)

I have two zip files, one for layer masks and one for out of bounds. They both should contain versions through V7.

I need to update them for V8. From what I've found so far, it sounds like the v7 files will work in v8 without change in the corresponding v8 file location, but I haven't had a chance to verify that. I was thinking of downloading the v8 PSE trial to check.

Yes, it is.

Ok, I just found the zip of the Out of Bounds actions and it does have the v7 files included :)

Jay,

Now that we've established that the actions work in PSE 7, I was wondering if you got them installed and working yet.
