In converting My Catalog in PSE 4 to PSE 6, I inadvertently set up a new catalog, My Catalog6. I now have a new My Catalog with pictures and video set up directly in PSE6 and another with the converted files. Is there a way to merge the two?

Re: merge catalogs in PSE6?While waiting for a reply from someone that can help you please check out this topic on issues with the catalog in Photoshop Elements 6

Re: merge catalogs in PSE6?I did read the "issues" posting, but didn't see anything related to merging catalogs. Nothing in PSE6 help I can find either.

Re: merge catalogs in PSE6?I hate About.com but there is a article there about this, basically it says " you can't ".
http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pselem ... talogs.htm (watch out for the popup invasion). Photoshop Elements user forum has a number of feature requests that ask for the ability to merge catalogs http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c05aa71/0 And here is a pretty good topic on converting from version 3 to version 5 http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/a ... 16165.html All in all it looks like it isn't possible, sorry. 1. Re: merge catalogs in PSE6?Unfortunately there is no function in Photoshop Elements 6 (or earlier versions) to combine catalogs.
This link that Chuck posted to the Adobe forum thread is probably the best description that I have seen of alternatives. http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c05aa71/0 Adding one comment to the comments in that thread - If you really want to preserve version sets, instead of using stacks as the alternative, there has been a process used in earlier versions that I think will work in version 6. However, it is time consuming for each and every version set created. Post back if you want more details. And I am also requesting that you please, please, please use the Adobe form at http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c05aa71/0 to submit your request for a function to combine catalogs. Include a description of your specific case of why you need to merge catalogs. Hopefully, if everyone who posts on a forum saying they want this feature will also submit the Adobe form, Adobe will get the message that this is an important function.
Re: merge catalogs in PSE6?Barb & Chuck:
Thanks for your research and suggestions. The solution on the Adobe forum looks too complicated for me, so I think i"ll just recapture the few photos and video clips into the converted catalog and then delete the other one. The conversion seemed to go fine and brought in all of the pictures, tags, etc. As I recall, the problem occurred because the conversion instructions asked me for a new name for the converted catalog. It certainly would be a useful feature to move or copy between catalogs, so I'll throw my 2cents worth into the Adobe forum. Re: merge catalogs in PSE6?Dave,
Sorry but I just realized that I gave you the wrong link for submitting to Adobe. It should have been http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/ind ... e=wishform
