How to change from a tool back to pointer

I cannot believe I am asking this question, but then I am not at home with Photoshop.
I have been editing in Photoshop, using tools and colours. Having set a tool I do not know how to get back to using the pointer. It must be so simple
Anyone to guide

You can simply select the pointer in the Toolkit, to the right of the program -- or press the v on your keyboard.

Thanks, I thought there should be a pointer icon, but I did not readily see it. If I cannot find it I will use the "v"

By "arrow icon" I'm assuming you mean the Move tool, by the way.

If you're looking for the Custom Shape tool, for drawing arrows over your photos, that's in another place.

Steve, no you were right the first time. I was looking for the pointer, mouse marker, which normally was just a black pointer. When the mouse marker was over the layer it showed a pointer plus N;S:E:W icon attached. Used "v"key but eventually found the pointer in the toolbox, which in my window was on the left.
All well now, but so basic needing to change back to pointer from having used one of the other tools.

Good news - I have completed my first Video Menu theme. All saved. I am getting somewhere. However I now need to go further and will submit a new query under how this appears in the theme menus when using PRe12
