Video's sound not playing in slideshow

I had already done the "Break Apart" as you'd mentioned it earlier. Also was working in the Timeline.

I have selected one of the portrait photos, and right clicked. The "scale to framesize" is NOT checked. I checked it anyway to see what would happen and I ended up with a postage stamp size pic.

This postage stamp size results surprises me. I still think the Scale parameter has potential. However, I don't have a specific suggestion to make now until I receive some feedback from others at this site.

Hi Lady B, can you right click on the monitor in Premiere Elements and tell us what the magnification is set to?
Also, Can you go to the main menu and select Edit/Project Settings/General and tell us what you see listed for Editing Mode, Frame Size, Horizontal and Pixel Aspect Ratio?

Hi Chuck,
Magnification is set to "fit".
Editing mode = DV PAL (I'm in Australia)
Frame Size = 720 horizontal x 576 vertical
Pixel Aspect Ratio = D1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 (1.4587)

While we are waiting to see Chuck's next comment or suggestion --

-- please check how your Organizer slide show Preferences are set
When you have a slide show open in the Organizer slide show editor, I think that one of its menus gives you access to those Preferences. I am interested specifically about settings for automatically cropping or not cropping pictures (portrait or landscape). However I suggest that you post all of those Preference settings for the slide show.

Additionally,
for the video file that you are adding after the slide show.
We may need to know more information about its format so I suggest that you gather that information now.

Steve Grisetti made the following suggestion for software that will analyze and report the characteristics of video files

G Spot, which can recognize most video files.

If it can't recognize it, sometimes Media Info can.

Please try G Spot (or Media Info) and paste its report contents in to this thread.

In Organizer, the slide show preferences are:
Static Duration: 7 sec
Transition: Random
Transition Duration: 2 sec
Background colour (black)
Apply Pan and Zoom to all slides is checked
Include captions as text is unchecked
Include audio captions as narration is unchecked (aha, this could be why my video audio is missing - must play with that and see) edited to add: scratch that, didn't seem to work.
Repeat soundtrack until last slide is unchecked
Crop to Fit Slide: Landscape Photos is checked, Portrait Photos is unchecked (must play with that one too)
Preview Quality: High

For the .avi file, here's what GSpot says:

Include audio captions as narration is unchecked -
in this context "audio captions" means a very specific PS Elements function where audio is recorded in a still camera and designated for a specific photo file. This does not apply to the audio within a video file.

Crop to Fit Slide: Landscape Photos is checked, Portrait Photos is unchecked
Based on your result when in Premiere Elements you saw Scale to Framesize unchecked and the top and bottom of the photo cut off, I had expected this to show Portrait Photos checked.

Therefore, I am puzzled. I suggest that you experiment with the settings for cropping Landscape photos as well as the experimenting with Portrait. Why? - because of the dilemma (error) of Premiere Elements not recognizing some of the photos as Portrait.
