Software for Post-processing

Postby Johnny » Wed Nov 23, 2011 6:02 pm

I'm new to trying to working with RAW files and am wondering if anyone has experience using Digital Photo Professional (software that comes with the Canon Rebel t2i/550D) as well as Photoshop Elements 7. I have Photoshop Elements 7, and I'm having to convert RAW files in order to open them in Elements 7, which is kind of a hassle because when converting many images it takes a while to figure out which image is which, so I'm wondering if it's just better to use Digital Photo Professional for working with RAW files.
If not, would Lightroom 3 maybe be better software to consider getting (rather than Photoshop Elements)?

Thanks for your response, Steve. I know that Elements will work with RAW; it's just that since I have Elements 7 and the particular camera I just got, I'm having to use Adobe's DNG converter. When converting a very large batch of images, it's a little confusing matching up the corresponding images. Anyway, I'll just have to deal with it unless I choose to use a current version of Elements, I guess.

Have you tried going to the Help menu and selecting Check for Updates? Adobe regularly updates Camera RAW tools for Photoshop Elements. No telling if it will update those for version 7, but it's worth a try.
