white line across top of screen in editor

Postby gail spiro » Tue Nov 01, 2011 1:45 pm

Does anyone know what this annoying white line is at the top of my screen? (photoshop Elements 9)

The editor IS in maximized mode, but this keeps happening. Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of it?
Thanks

Gail, is it possible to post a JPEG rather than a PSD?
Then it can be viewed in the post rather than having to download it and open the screen shot in Photoshop :)

I have seen that also, don't have a clue why it is happening either.

This is very easy to fix :-D

Remove the check mark in front of "Rulers" in the View menu.

Hi Gerlinde, it isn't that white line that Gail is talking about.
The white line in question is above that, it runs right through the menu at the top of the window.

:sh: :drunken:

Does the line go away when the window is not maximized? Does the line also show up in the Organizer? Sometimes a repair install fixes wired stuff like that.

Could it be a display driver issue, maybe an update is in order.

I noticed it happening sometimes when there is another program working in the background, or when the system becomes low on memory or other resources. Then it goes back to normal. Sort of like in Pre El or Pr Pro when the CTI seems to have a "shadow" or "echo" in another part of the timeline.

For the record, what operating system are you using? (Kind of looks like XP.)

What happens if you minimize the window for a moment and then pop it back open? Sometimes that can clear out parts of the interface that didn't refresh correctly.

I've tried lots of ways to make it go away, sometimes things work and sometimes they don't.
I try to pretend that it isn't there :)

Me, too.
It really isn't in the way of any functions.

no- it isn't in the way of any functions, but it is really annoying. And it is kind of in the way when you go to hit "enhance' or any of the other top tabs.
There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for when or when it appears. If anyone ever finds an update or fix for it- PLEASE share!

Steve- thanks for the heads up about a jpeg instead of a psd- I'll do that next time.
