Making PSE 9 Default Editor

Postby Ted » Mon Sep 12, 2011 8:20 am

Hello all,

I'm wondering how I'd go about making Photoshop Elements 9 my default editor so that when I right-click on a photo and choose "Edit", PSE 9 comes up instead of the Windows 7 editor.

I've searched on Google and somebody said I should go to Edit > File Associations. However, that advice was for an earlier version of PSE. I don't see such an option in PSE 9.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks much!

Which operating system are you using, Ted?

On most Windows systems, it's as simple as right-clicking on a file in Windows Explorer, selecting Open With, then Choose Program. On the Open With option screen, you browse to a program and check the option to Always Use The Selected Program to Open This Kind of File.

Hi Steve and thanks for responding. :)

I'm using Windows 7.

However, when I do right-click on the picture, I don't get the option "Open With"... I only get "Open", "Edit", and some other choices...

Okay... I take that back!

The problem was: I was trying to open four images....I selected them all and right-clicked.

When I chose just ONE image, I did get "Open With" and DID make it default.

I feel like an idiot.

Can I blame it on Monday? Maybe because I'm an ancient 44 years old?

Low blood sugar?

Thanks, Steve! :)
