Hailing from California....

Postby chulaivet1966 » Thu Sep 08, 2011 2:53 pm

Well...Steve has been trying to help me recently so I thought I would join the forum and maybe get educated on learning my Sony Movie Studio 9.0b package a bit better.

I'm still experiencing some grief but will pose this question: I have many photos in my current project which default to .05 seconds.
I would like to *select* this sequence of photos and increase the duration of all of them equally to fit a larger area?
I've looked for how to do this with no success....and English is my first language...ha.

So, if anyone can assist I'd be grateful.
Thanks in advance....

No prob....and thanks for the *welcome*.
You've already helped because you haven't banned me yet for posting a (likely) basic editing question that is elusive to me thus far.

Carry on....

Great to see you on the forum, Walter.

In Vegas MovieStudio, you can easily extend your slideshow by selecting all of the photos, holding down the Ctrl key (to activate the Time Stretch tool) and dragging on the end of the slide set to stretch it.

Have I convinced you to pick up a copy of my book yet, Walter? That trick's on page 130. ;)

Ha...you're book is on my purchase list along with the upgrade to v11.0 HD.
But, my new studio monitors are first (KRK8G2's) because I sold my JBL4410's and I've got only my TASCAM S1010 near fields to mix now.....I'm feeling musically diminished at this moment

Your tip: I saw that part in the Sony manual but it was not clear to me when reading it that it may be the tool I was referring to.

Oh....it's Wayne....not Walter.
No prob thought because my wife uses much more colorful names on occasion.
I am grateful for your assistance so this forum can belly up to the bar because I'm buying.

Thank you sir....

Dave McElderry: thanks for the welcome.

Oops! Sorry, Wayne! For what's worth, I NEVER forget the name of someone who buys me a drink. ;)

Mornin' Chuck....
Thank you....I like that tele also.
I have a couple guitar modules so I'm not stuck with one style of sound when writing/recording.
I bought that Ibanez Tele in summer 1978....late Pleistocene Epoch.
The manufacture date is July 1977 which (I think) was during or just after the law suits by Fender.
Purchased a Randall Commander II (2x12's) amp at the same time.
The other acoustic axe is 1973 Guild D40 I purchased in 1978 also.

My current movie project is my personal music anthology which I hope I can finish prior to being an entry on the obits page.
I've made my first rough of the DVD last night and I've got a boatload of editing to do today.

Observation: I discovered this project file (many pics and 23 songs at 01:40) is 35% too large for a DVD.
So, as a test I clicked on the option "fit to disk", it burned fine, I'm 2/3 of the way through first listen and no obvious problems yet.
Question: what are the sacrifices or quality hits that occur if one does this 'fit to disk' thing?

Steve....not to worry....I don't recall what I had for breakfast this morning.

Need more mud to get my neurons firing.
Later....

Just wanted to add a welcome, Wayne :wcm: and to suggest maybe using a dual layer DVD so that you don't have to suffer that 35% compression (which will impact video quality, though it may be unnoticable).

OMG....I was thinking about asking that very question as I do have a new pack of DL DVD's but did not know what the real world difference was or specific reason/need for using them.
I'm new this movie making thing and the learning curve (for me) seems vertical much of the time.
My next burn I'll use them.
I'm in editing hell now.

Thanks for that good tip and the welcome.

Single layer DVD has a capacity of 4.7Gb; dual layer is 8.5Gb so getting on for twice the size. :-D

That mitigates some grief for me.
Thanks for the education. ::C
