Tapatalk Forum Utility For iPhone Users (Android too?)

Postby Dave McElderry » Mon May 09, 2011 5:30 am

After a recent inquiry from me, our Site Administrator Ron installed what I think is a great little tool for iPhones called Tapatalk, which is available in the app store for $2.99. They claim that it's now installed on several thousand forums and the number is increasing by the day. I like it a lot better than using the Muvipix Mobile option with Safari. Not necessarily trying to talk anyone into using it, but thought I'd let any of our iPhone users know that it's available and that Muvipix is "Tapatalk Capable." Thanks Ron!

EDIT: I see on the Tapatalk website that they have versions for Android, Windows Phone 7, WebOS and Blackberry too. Don't know for sure though if the installation that Ron made will support these.

You know, after I made the post I actually thought about you and your iPad Bobby. I knew you'd be asking. :)

The Tapatalk website doesn't say anything about iPad. The fact is, I doubt that it would work well on an iPad since the device has so much more display real estate than the iPhone. It's designed specifically for forum ease of use with small touch displays. Do you feel like your iPad's display is a little small for forum use? I've never even held an iPad.

I looked it up in the app store and, yes, there is an iPad version.

But it wasn't clear what the benefit would be. I use the Atomic browser as previously reported, and being able to spoof Firefox it shows muvipix just like on my PC

I will continue to keep up on Tapatalk...

Found it in the app store too. I'm thinking that the advantages that make it good for a smartphone are kind of lost in something as large as the iPad. It gets generally very good reviews re use on the iPhone, but not very good for iPad users. I've not had the first problem with any of the crashes that some were reporting. For me it's a keeper for my iPhone, but I agree that it may not be of much use on the iPad.

There is an Android version also that I may try for my phone.

You may ask Why an iPad but an Android phone? Answer: why not!

Nah, I seldom question tech toys. If we were all alike what wouldn't that be boring?
