Some challenges with the forum

Postby Steve Grisetti » Wed Dec 26, 2007 4:01 pm

Our apologies if you've been trying to post to the forum over the past couple of days and have run into problems.

Webmaster Ron has been working diligently on the problem -- going so far as installing all new forum software -- and the host is also conducting a pretty thorough investigation.

Hopefully, what's here will work in the meantime. (If you're like me, you were suffering Muvipix forum withdrawal!) And maybe the problem has already been resolved.

But they're continuing to work on it.

We're sorry for any inconvenience or frustrations.

Please note that this is most definately NOT a criticism. It is just a recollection from my own experience.

In my years working in IT I found that the users only ever remembered when the system was down.

Take this true instance from a 250 seat call centre operaton where I was IT Manager - "do you remember that day in March 2003 when we didn't have the system for a whole day? We just sat around talking and drinking tea and coffee because we couldn't do anything".

The users (God bless them) never seemed to remember the times when the systems were available without interuption.

So after eleven or so months of muvipix uptime there has been a slight glitch but thanks to Ron and the hosting company the problem has been solved. I make that a system up time of about 99%.

Thanks guys for a job well done. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Wow! You guys are definitely the salt of the earth and the cream of the crop!

Thanks for appreciating the constant effort Ron puts into keeping things running and serving our friends. Webmaster Ron, as you may know, is retired Navy -- but this web site has become practically a full-time job for him.

I think the guy deserves a silver star!

With Ron's help the host discovered that the time was off on some of their servers which caused many problems for other sites as well as muvipix.
All fixed now, way to go Ron =D> :-5

Thanks everyone, you're too kind.

And yes, all back to normal now. Next order of business, after I clean up a few things, will be the January "New Stuff".
