Just posted a couple of files.
These are the beginning and end sequences from a 20min movie I made for my sister's 50th birthday.
It was presented at a large hollywood theme party (hence the opening) and was a complete surprise to her!
Any comments most welcome.

BTW her nickname is Kippy.

To be self critical there are a couple of things I would improve next time:

The voiceovers at the beginning are not good quality. Recorded with a cheap microphone and altered with Audacity they are not very clear.

The fast photos at the end (after "how time flies" title) would have been improved dramatically by timing the changes to the beat of the music. This movie was done in WMM and I just couldn't get it right in time. Now I have PRE and the superb "In a snap" book this won't be a problem!

to be sure, I'd use both platforms. There are some effects there that I'd not want to give up, such as the 'aging effect' that are not otherwise available to you in PE.

You're right John, I also love the aged film effects in WMM.
Also I like some of the pre-packaged credits like the "squashed" one I used at the end.

The other tool I found invaluable for pan & zooms on stills was Windows Photostory 3. This is a little known (to me anyway) free program that can be easily downloaded from Microsoft. I did all the stills with it and then imported them as .wmv's. Very simple but effective.
I now have PSE which does this also but have only had a brief look at it so far.

And don't forget, if your photos are sized to 1000x750 pixels (as they should be) you can use my package of preset motion paths to create quick pans & zooms -- free in our Products area. (The Zip file contains instructions for installing them in Premiere Elements.)

these were great fun and very well done. It sounds like you said these were done all done with WMM. You'll be very happy with PrEl but you'll find everything now takes twice as long... not because it's not an intuitive program but because you can do so much more you won't be able to stop.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work and be able to get some inspiration from you.
