First Pany GH4 posting for me

Postby _Paz_ » Sun Dec 06, 2015 6:19 pm

Okay, here it is...not the first things I shot but the first I've edited into anything.

4k, down scaled to 1080p, shot with Lumix Vario 14-42 PZ lens, mostly at the 14 setting which did not seem wide enough. There is a lot of detail here, which is always difficult to process in video. I did not sharpen this and wonder if I should have. I was quite pleased that I did not have vertically rising, horizontal ripples while processing... those got in there after YouTube had its way with it. :(

I have not uploaded it to Vimeo. It will be interesting to see if the ripples get in that version too.

Very nice. Especially the tree trunk reflections in the water.

Beautiful! So soothing and serene. Loved the nature sounds. It must be amazing to have such scenery so close to you.

Thanks, everyone. I'm pleased with the results from the GH4. I believe it will have high enough quality for me to be able to pull individual 4k images for my tutorials. My other camcorder just couldn't do that.

>>Swamp People

Ha! You talkin' 'bout my cousins? :fg:

This was our first time in this particular swampy area. It won't be the last! We've been checking out various creeks and streams on Google Earth searching for new ways to get to the water. Unfortunately a while back the Federal government closed off most little dirt road river access sites where we used to put the jon boat in to go fishing.

To get to this one we had to get the boat over a fairly high earthen dam. At my suggestion, Mr. B welded together two about 26" large wheels to an axle. Slip the axle under the boat, tie it down, lift the painter in the front and you pretty much have a boat sized wheelbarrow type setup. Unbelievably easy to pull around. He pulled. I pushed. We threw in the life jackets, trolling motor and battery, the chihuahua - wearing his lifejacket- and camera equipment and had a lovely afternoon!
