Video of my son made with Burst Photo Mode on iPhone 6 Plus

Postby Kent Frost » Mon Nov 02, 2015 5:11 pm

Tried something a bit different here. This video was made using the burst photo mode in my iPhone 6 Plus. The biggest reason I wanted to do this is because I'd get almost 4K quality, which gives of course some flexibility to post editing, and also because burst photo mode only fires for as long as your finger is on the button, much like shooting old 8mm film. Thus, when you assemble the footage, you find that time jumps around much like it did back in those days. What I mean is instead of a fluid motion from moment A to moment B, if your finger lets off the button at all, it jumps. Also, at 10 frames per second, that juttery motion tends to add to the effect as well. I put a few photoshop action on every frame, giving it that kind of Instagrammy feel. I could of course take it a few steps further and add a bit of blur to imitate an slightly imperfect lens, some grain, maybe little light leakage, etc.
What do you think? I kind of like how this feels, especially with this music.

The effect really is magical, Kent -- especially with that music!
