Concrete Canoes

Postby Dave McElderry » Sat Jun 20, 2015 6:40 am

My nephew, Joshua, is a civil engineering student at The University of Toledo. Each year schools from the region compete in a building/racing of concrete canoes. This year The University of Toledo hosted the event, and we attended the display and presentation portion. The races were the next day, and unfortunately we could not attend.

I didn't take any equipment with me; both the stills and the short video is taken with my cellphone. I present for content, not for technical expertise. Josh is the young man answering questions, with his lady friend Liz.

Be yourself; everyone else is taken.

We were very proud of him. He carried himself well and showed an obvious understanding of the technical aspect in answering questions. His mom and dad have done a great job. But I like to say that he must have gotten his smarts from his Uncle Dave. :)

I enjoyed seeing the boats with their impressive art work. Fun to see how creative the groups were with the supports too. I am sure your nephew got his smarts from his uncle!
