FAUX Colorado Plasterer Bee on Pasque Wildflower

Postby theOZer » Tue May 05, 2015 2:16 am

I have come to find out my Hylaeus (prosopis) Plasterer Bee... 1) is not a Hylaeus, 2) is most likely not a plasterer bee, and 3) maybe not even a bee.
And, as far as film composition goes, I should have used the zoom and /or shot a tighter shot on the insect, be it what it may. Hmm.

Plasterer Bee or Polyester Bee, Hylaeus (Paraprosopis) tuertonis, also known as genus Hylaeus (Prosopis), is a cluster-nesting native bee of Colorado.

Dennis, you have a steady hand and you have chosen an interesting subject as the background, the soil, is a nice texture too.
You have provided rich information and the natural shaking is pleasant.

Francesco,
I carry my handycam with me when I'm out and about. Sans tripod, and trying to keep the subject (the plasterer bee) in frame, I 'walk' my camera around what I am filming, using the handycam's articulated LCD viewing screen and screen grid template to keep (hopefully) the subject being filmed in frame.
I was driving the back roads up in Teller County, Colorado, then stopped and went hiking up to a viewpoint, a rock outcropping, and was just enjoying the natural flora, the early spring flowering native Pasque flowers, when I quickly realized I was catching a Colorado native bee foraging on the Pasque flowers. And out came the camera. I am a backyard beekeeper and to see a 'Colorado Native Bee' had me in awe. The background, the primitive scree soil, the surroundings, the moment...all products of Nature.

I too bring my handycam with me in my handbag... during trips also the tripod in the car.
I consider myself too a product of nature, a contributor to its image  while shooting img0384
