Timelapse Change of Seasons (year long)

Postby Ron Hunter » Sun Sep 28, 2014 3:29 pm

Every Sunday for one year I took photos of my home from the same spots. I just compiled those images into a 2 minute video and placed it on Vimeo. Please let me know what you think of it:

Nice job Ron. Those leaves came on in a hurry about the second week of April! You don't get much snow in your area of NC. Last year was particularly bad for us here in Ohio.

Very nice work, Ron! I've always wanted to do something like that but never had the patience or commitment.

Thanks Steve for giving me the idea! It was a hassle sometimes, especially when I had an umbrella in one hand and camera in the other, but I'm glad I got it done. Lining up the photos was the biggest hassle; I didn't know of a way to do it using the software I have, so I manually did it in Lightroom and FCPX.

Well that is dedication, a year of photos. The leaves sure did go fast. Did you put a short dissolve between photos?

it was cool to see the sun movement by watching the shadow of the trees.

Yes, a half-second cross dissolve between each photo.

Nice house!

My favorite shot was in August at 01:12, I think. Shadows on the lawn. I like the purple leaf plums and crepe myrtles. Neither of them do very well in my yard because I have too many big pines that cast shadows all year long.

Looks like you get rain in June. We get spring floods earlier, and we seldom get snow, but when we do it is always after Christmas. I'd love to actually see a White Christmas some day. Not in the cards here.

Anyway, well done so far as editing goes. The music is nice too and fits well.

Thanks Patrice! That shot of rain in June was no fun. It was POURING down and I had an umbrella in one hand while I setup the camera on the tripod.

We almost never get snow here either and if we do, it is in February or March. February of this year was a fluke for us as we got about 10 inches at one time. Last time something like that happened in central NC was about 20 years ago.
