Most hardware stores still sell acetone. Wouldn't you have to be very careful not to get it on the paint?

Oh my yes! I'm not recommending it. You just brought back memories of my dad. Very flammable too!

Here's three photos, the original, using the grey scale overlay for sharpening and using unsharp mask:

The grey scale sharpen mask:

That line along the bottom of the mountain range in the background is the road.

This is really interesting, and the great photos are the bonus. So which most closely matches what the eye really saw?

Probably the bottom one a little less saturated yet with more clarity. Nothing can match the human eye, 'cept maybe another human eye.

This one didn't need a lot of fixing. The light was right and if I remember correctly, I just pointed the camera out of my side window and clicked the shutter. I didn't look at the LCD, I just hoped it got a good photo. I turn off the picture preview so I don't know if I get anything or not. I can shoot photos as fast as I can press the shutter that way. I lost too many opportunities looking at each shot after I took it. If you look at the bush in the foreground you can see I'm moving pretty fast, about 60 mphs. That land is millions of years old and those are the color transitions for one era to another. It's amazing to drive through that landscape thinking about that.

And that water in the lower right hand corner is the Colorado River.

Here's the first photo taken last year as opposed to the other one which was several years ago. Slightly different spot on the road and full sunlight:

This one's from the top looking back down onto the road. I was standing at the edge of the cliff:

All good. You should make a portfolio and try to sell to someone that publishes this kind of art.
