Frames for videos - demo +files

Postby Jayell » Sat Mar 03, 2007 1:11 am

Hi Folks,

For some reason, I have made several short videos where I wanted a frame around the video .. of varying widths, sizes, and colors. They're easy to make (using Titles), but I got tired of having to make them each time I needed one, so I've made up several of my own that are always available.

To demonstrate what I'm talking about, I've placed a short clip in the Gallery (using music from Muvipix :)

If anyone is interested in having these available, you're welcome to download the zip file

'http://muvipix.com/cpg/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=10047&pos=0 'which contains several colored frames. They each have four sides which can be sized, re-colored, etc, as shown in the video.

Download the zip files into: Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0\Presets\Templates .. and I created a folder called FRAMES .. but you can put them wherever you want in the Templates folders (I believe they DO have to be inside a folder .. but don't quote me on that)

I hope someone will find these useful .. and because I'm still new to this, let me know if there's a better/easier way of doing this. If it matters, I created them in PE2.

Jayell,

These look great. You've sparked me to share one of my methods for framing. It's a bit of steps and may not work in the same way yours do but if anyone's looking to add a classic wall frame to their video -

On the uppermost track add a color matte (doesn't matter what color since it will become black). Size it down a bit with motion effects then crop it to the size of the innner safety box. (you can adjust crop again later to liking). add a bevel edge. now give it an alpha adjust effect and check invert. It should look like a classic frame (you may need to adjust a bit to your liking. This can be placed over your image on a lower track or for added effect you can add a matte track.

To add your matte track just add a color matte middle between your upper track and the image...crop that down first and then add the alpha adjust - invert, and check mask only too. Now comes a tricky part. add an inner border by adding a drop shadow. opacity 100, direction 0, distance 2. now add the drop shadow again 3 more times each time with direction adjusted by 90. (0,90,180,270).

You can always add color to your frame or matte by adding tint (make sure it's after the alpha adjust. On the matte you'll need to add a second crop to remove the outside.

I know it seems complicate but check out the end result to see if it's worth it.

Incorrect 'http://muvipix.com/cpg/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0'

When posting links to your gallery, use the URL that's directly underneath the video in the file information area
Happy Editing,

You're right, Beth .. yours looks like a lot more work .. but the outcome is great! I'll give it a try. Thanks for another idea!
