re-install Premier Elements 2023 on new machine

Postby robertcallahan » Thu Sep 07, 2023 2:20 pm

I have 2 questions that I couldn't find answers to in your guides.
1) current environment is SSD and a Sata drive on Win 10. 32 GB memory. programs on SSD with images/movies/exports on Sata drive. I've upgraded to a new computer with Win 11, 32 GB memory, video card with 16 GB memory, C drive SSD, D drive SSD and additional sata drive (from older machine) that has images. Is there documentation on the correct way to install and move. I've found multiple proceedures but they differ.
2) Because I have a new computer I'd like to setup it up correctly from the beginning as I made changes in the old setup and created problems. My thought was programs on C drive (SSD - 1TB), swap temp etc on d drive (SSD - 1TB) and media on Sata drive (where it was on old setup).

Does this make sense or does anyone have recommendations?

C Drive SSD: OS and programs
D drive SSD: Media, Media Cache, and preview files
Other drive HDD: Exports (if you are not in a hurry), autosaves, and backups.

Exports on the D drive SSD might be faster than on the other drive HDD.

I agree with Peru but I would make the HDD, if it is big enough, into a dedicated backup of the C: and D: drives.

For my backups I used Macrium Reflect (paid edition) though the free version may be enough for your needs.

Obviously, other back up software solutions are available. :)
AMD Ryzen 3900x 12C/24T, ASUS x570 mobo, Arctic Liquid Freezer ll 280, Win11 64 bit, 64GB RAM, Radeon RX 570 graphics, Samsung 500GB NVMe 980 PRO (C:), Samsung 970 Evo SSD (D:), Dell U2717D Monitor, Synology DS412+ 8TB NAS, Adobe CS6.
