DVD Capability for Premiere Elements 2023

Postby slushparlor1 » Wed Jul 05, 2023 1:32 pm

Hello,
It's been quite a few years since I've posted here - it's awesome to see some of the familiar names still here. I won a prize back in 2008 video contest for "stories to tell" :). I've been using Adobe 4 (you read that right) since 2007. I think I bought version 7, but continued to use version 4 until I had to upgrade my OS and it no longer works. I'm devastated lol. I am going to buy PE 2023 and saw that there is no capability to burn DVD's. That's disappointing as I often work on videos for other people who like having a DVD. Can you let me know some options of what people do to burn DVD's? Do you just burn it to the computer and then use a DVD burner? Is there something that works better then something else.
Thanks for the advise.

Just to clarify, you can't just output an MP4 and burn it to a DVD and have a playable DVD. It needs to be authored as a DVD or BluRay disc.

There are still a few DVD authoring apps out there. Some are even free. But my personal favorite is TMPGEnc. It can turn your MP4 from Premiere Elements into a playable disc. https://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/endproduct/taw5.html

Another option you might consider is posting the video to VIMEO. They have a multitude of privacy options and you can just send the viewer a link in e-mail. In addition if your TV has internet you can down the free VIMEO app on your TV and watch videos that way too. The same privacy protocols apply for the TV version. You can also make the video private so it does not show in any searches.

I like it because sometimes I make revisions to my videos. This way I upload the newer version and it is updated across the board and keeps the same original link. For me no burner, no media no jewel case and no postage.

Just a thought.

Not so much anymore. Vimeo just recently ended support for existing Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV, and Roku. It's still possible to use Vimeo in a browser on any of those devices, or use screen mirroring and the Vimeo app from a phone.

I was very disappointed recently to find that the Vimeo app on my Fire TV stopped working.

Well that is a bummer.

Why is Vimeo ending support for its TV apps? According to the message on the customer-support site, “Occasionally, we retire legacy products and features that are no longer consistent with our standards. We believe that our users looking to view Vimeo videos will receive a better ongoing experience by casting via our mobile app, enabling customers to enjoy Vimeo content on their TV.”

How is casting:

a. easier
b. better

Vimeo must have had to pay to be on Roku, Fire, etc..... lol

For the first quarter of 2023, Vimeo’s revenue fell 4% year-over-year to $103.6 million and gross profit declined 2% to $79.9 million. The company narrowed its net loss to $700,000 (versus a net loss of $26.6 million in the year-earlier period). In a bid to cut costs, Vimeo this January announced that it would lay off 11% of its employees.

Agreed. Sounds like corporate double-speak for "Supporting the apps was costing us money that wasn't generating more revenue."
As for myself, I'm seriously giving consideration to other options than Vimeo, even though I've been using it for quite some time. The process to mirror to my TV from my iPhone involves a third party app and just too many hoops to jump through. I don't need the stress.
