Yup - the installation of NIS is very reliable and easy these days. Just put in the CD and answer a couple of questions. After that, there is no other configuration required as long as you accept the defaults.

One default is to use idle-time checking, rather than schedule a full scan at a specific time of day. I have been experimenting with this on some of my client's PCs (don't tell 'em!) with good success.
