Are you saying that when the project is exported to a standard DVD the sides will be chopped off? I have about 10 min of video and placing photos at the end for a small slideshow and need to be aware of the placement? Same for titles?

My response to be sure and use the Safe Margins was due to this statement The quick test I did resulted in a good looking DVD but when displaying on my (old analog) tv some heads were cut off? I'm thinking this is because I set up the project incorrectly. In "project settings" I have set the capture format to HDV.
HDV projects will show the entire frame, no Safe Margins necessary if played on a computer or HD TV. When the results will be burned to a standard DVD you need to make sure the expected shot is within the safe margins. So if you are editing HDV and are going to burn to a Standard DVD, be sure to edit with the Safe Margins turned on

What size should the photos be resized? The usual 1024x768 appears too small. Thanks for the help. Good thing my first HV30 project is small, feels like I am learning it all over again on how to set stuff up. The HDVsplit worked fine, but miss seeing a capture window.

HDVSplit has a capture window, just check the box that says 'Preview' You can then set the Preview Window Size, 1/4 is plenty big. Don't use full screen unless you put it on a second monitor. The size of still images should be the size of the project 1920 x 1080 or 1440 x 1080 depending on the project. I would go with something like 2000 x 1200.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. Just read my weekly horoscope it said to finish a project before starting a new one and to Ask For Help. And just went shopping for HD motion backgrounds here. Thanks again.
