I use an Artisan 850 inkjet printer and Taiyo Yuden Water Shield disks. They dry very very quickly and are resistant to water. I have put then under running water within a minute of taking them out of the printer and they are fine. They have a slight gloss and the image quality is pretty good. Make sure you get authentic disks since there are a lot of fakes out there. I also use genuine Epson inks because of the work that the OEMs put in to their formulation. The 3rd Party inks are pretty good, but I tend to not use them. Also, I pretty much only print disc labels anymore since it is easier to use one of the multitudes of online printing services for photographs. So the cost is more manageable.
