Help! My Client's Skin Looks Bad with HD

Postby George Tyndall » Sat Jan 31, 2009 4:23 pm

I selected the option for soft skin on my HV30's menu, but my client's skin still looks rough, especially in the close-ups.

Problem is, she wants a Blu-ray, not a SD, DVD, and I know she will be unhappy with the detail of the Blu-ray in comparison with the lesser detail of an SD DVD.

Does PRE7 have the equivalant of a Diffusion Filter?

Wow!

Before seeing that, I was wonderng what one could do with Premiere Pro that one cannot do with PRE. I'm (almost) speechless.

Although I am not currently using PP, now I know, thanks to that tutorital, how to copy from one track and paste to another. That is something I need to know right now, for my current PRE project.

Thanks!

Shoot in SD and tell her it is Blu-Ray :)

Does PRE7 have Gaussian blur? Where please?

George, Just start typing Gausian Blur into the effect search box and it will pop up.
It is under the Blur and Sharpen effects ;)

Thanks, Chuck, but like the Air Brush Effect that one also blurs the eyes and lips.

So I tried copying and then pasting a sample clip to another video track above the first one, but that did not work for me, so I could not follow the remainder of the procedure suggested elsewhere, which has to do with changing the opacity of the upper of the 2 identical 2 clips.

George,

You can't paste to the other track like you can in Premiere Pro, but you can drag the same clip from the media panel and drop it on the other track to get your second copy. Then you can apply the gaussian blur and adjust the opacity. Premiere Elements doesn't have the levels command shown in the video so you will need to skip that. But you can add the title, blur it, and use track matte similar to the tutorial and you can use key frames to have the title/ovals follow the position of the eyes.

Okay, Bob, thanks. I will try that in the morning.
