Discussions about High Definition Television, Blu-Ray, HD DVD and other high definition DVD formats.

My wife, who watches a lot more TV than I, has been asking for an HDTV for quite some time. (Our SD TV is about 20 years old.)
I procrastinated for as long as I could, but then two events occurred about the same time:
1) Consumr Reports in August published a report which cited a Samsung Series 5 46" HDTV as a "superb value" at $1800
2) Circuit City sent me an email offering 36 months of no interest on purchases over $2500 by way of a Chase/Circuit City card.
I said to my wife, "Since you want the TV, why don't you apply for the card? I'll make the payments."
"Okay."
To make a long story short, we got the Series 7 52" for a little over $2400, plus an Onkyo 7.1 Home Theater, and an LG Blu-ray disk player that also plays HD-DVD and SD-DVD.
I just played a 60-minute HV30 HD tape on the TV, and the view was breathtaking.
The article in Consumer Reports is on page 8.

The TV is located at the foot of our crowded bedroom. I'll check with my wife what brand of popcorn she likes.

You're also invited. BTW, will your book be available when PE7 is released?

Please advise in advance how many additional viewers there will be, and I'll get out the microphone that is used to recalibrate the system so that each viewer will enjoy an optimal Home Theater listening experience.

The book is out -- sort of. At least you can order it from Amazon now.
But there are some goofy things on the Amazon page that I'd like to see fixed before I make a formal announcement.

I've tried searching your name on Amazon for the book, but all I get is your previous publications. I would like to order ASAP so I will be sure to have it when my pre-ordered PE7 arrives.

Yeah, somebody screwed up somewhere. This is why I didn't want to announce it formally yet.
I've got the book on hold again until I can get a couple of things straightened out.
Thanks for the enthusiasm though, guys!
