HD Camcorder

Postby jimfallis04 » Mon Mar 05, 2007 11:43 am

Hi All:

I am looking at buying an HD Camcorder. I want to ensure PE 3.0 can work with the new footage. Any suggestions of what to look for or what to avoid.

Does anyone have any experience in making videos in PE 3.0 with HD video files. What are the differences, if any, when working with HD. Can you add picture elements or Digital Juice non-HD files. What are the settings when you burn a DVD? What are the results when seen on an HD TV compared to a normal TV? Lots of questions.

Please contact me with your e-mail address.

Thank you ... Jim

Read here, for HDV info on choice of Camcorders etc: http://www.sonyhdvinfo.com/

HD takes a lot more computer resourses. You need to decide if you are going to edit in HD and downconvert for burning to a standard DVD or downconvrting in the camcorder to standard definition before editing. Or do you want to view the video as HD... if so how do you intend to view it? If so view this thread from Muvipix:

PE3 effects can be used with HD but 3rd party effects may not as they can not handle the larger frame size. You need to confirm before buying any package.

Just to clarify, are you talking about an HD hard drive camcorder or and HDV high def video camcorder.

I will tell you that HDV footage on a HD TV looks AWESOME :)

There just isn't anything much you can do with it yet at a reasonable price.
