4k 60p?

Specific to Premiere Elements version 2018

4k 60p?

Postby Paz_Pazzaz » Tue Dec 05, 2017 9:32 pm

Assuming 2018 is the latest version of Premiere Elements, can it export 4k at 60 frames per second?

(PrePro CS6 can only go as high as 4K 30 fps.)

I tried to create a custom output preset at those specs but the program wouldn't allow it.

I think a 3840x2160 30p MP4 is the max.

Sidd,

Thanks for the video. I don't think I've checked all the selections this video uses, so I'll make notes and try again. I did notice, however, that the video is saved at 29.97. I can do that. I can't get 59.97 at 4K resolution... with the selections I've made.

Perhaps I'm trying to save in the wrong format or else I've created the wrong PreSet.

When I try to save at the "Format" - H.264, I get a popup that says:

"Adobe Media Encoder...
Invalid framesize/framerate for this level.
Please lower the video bounds or frame rate, or increase the Profile and Level and try again."

I'm guessing "video bounds" means size, such as 3840 X 2160.

The Frame rate of 29.97 is allowed, but 59.97 gives me the popup when I try to export.
"Profile" gives me options of: baseline, main or high. I've selected "High".
I have "Level" set at my highest option, Level 5.1

These options are the same as the ones used in the video.

============

Anyone know of a file format already in PrePro CS6 that might hold higher info? I think my computer should be able to handle it. I just haven't been able to get the program to agree. (Still trying to hold off on signing up for CC!)

Thanks Steve. If Premiere Elements ever comes out with a version that can save 4K at 60 fps, please let me know!

Or if anyone else knows of a non-Adobe editor that would... but not carry eternal costs like CC, I'd like to hear about that too.

Paz,

Which version of Premiere Elements do you have?

The Premiere Elements 2018 version allows High 5.2, which is what is needed to create a custom profile 3840x2160 59.94fps.

Steve said: "MP4"

Oh. OK. So many versions and the names are all just a string of numbers and letters to me.

Rob said: "PRE EL 2018 can save at level 5.2"

My current PreEL is version 15.

I've just installed PRE EL 2018, imported at 45GB file that has some worthwhile footage at the very beginning and at the very end. I've cut out the center, the file is now 3.24 GB. Looks as if I am saving it at full 4k, 59.94 fps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image

If I can now take this into PrePro CS6 for editing and save at 29.whatever, then I'll have an edited file I can use right now AND the original without the 40+GB of worthless footage in between. DEFINITELY worth the cost of PreEL 2018. 40 GB used to be a substantial hard drive.

I'll report back on whether I will be able to take this file into PrePro CS6. Since the original file at 59.94 files can be imported and edited....fingers crossed!

Paz,

If you want to export a regular MP4-AVC file, not an XAVC-S, you can do so by going into the Custom settings. You should be able to set up 29.97 fps as well as 59.94 fps in Custom settings.

IT WORKED!!! (as XAVC-S anyway)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3WXKCk ... e=youtu.be

Original 4K, 60fps video edited (cut) in PreEl 2018, exported still at 4K, 60 fps, Imported into PrePro CS6 at 4K, 60 fps, edited for color balance, exported to Mercalli for "Rock Steady" stabilization, exported back into PrePro CS6, Title added, exported at 4K, 29.97 fps, uploaded to YouTube.

No audio in the dove segment. This vid is unlisted. I have other dove footage of a baby, another in a tree in a park, "Ring Neck" doves for comparison... all together they should make a nice nature video. When you see the "edited in Premiere Elements" stripe across the image jump around, while the dove is still, before editing in Mercalli's "rock steady video" function, the dove and and entire video were doing the jumping.

Rob,

Thanks so much for this information! I'm off to buy Pre El 2018 now. It will be fabulous to be able to cut out the junk and save my "worthy" video in full original specs for later use, if needed.

For years I stupidly saved my edited files ONLY as "upload to youtube." Now that I know more about editing and would like to revisit those files, the only way I can get them is to download them from YouTube, in an even further degraded format than my originals that were shot at 1080p. Live and Learn... pay for mistakes made along the way. Sure wish I'd saved the edited files to my computer too.

(Sorry, I don't remember how to embed YouTube files here. Tried tube, iframe, new, with and without http, https, and such.)

Thanks for spotting and correcting that, Bob.

When I posted the link to the page it looked different and offered either program, as download only or to buy the installation CD, which was strangely, cheaper than downloading. (I always prefer to get a disc if possible and usually pay more, plus shipping.)

Now I see my link going to Photoshop Elements, as you said, and with a higher price... so I double checked my order, and I did get 40% off. Either program individually is now 30% off.

My disc should arrive by Thursday or so and when it does I'm going to be doing some serious hard drive housecleaning!
