2nd Internal Hard Drive

Postby kenskopp » Tue Feb 14, 2017 11:43 am

Hello all,

I am referencing page 429 of "Muvipix Guide PSE15 & PRE15" I have a second internal drive "E" that has all my photos and video clips. It is also where I have PRE15 put project files and where I save DVDs I burn with Imgburn. I also backup my catalogs to the "E" drive. Of course, I weekly back up the "C" and "E" drives to separate external drives. The PSE15 & PRE15 software is on my "C" drive. All "Preferences" are at factory default. How should I arrange my workflow to maximize the efficiency of PRE15. Since I have been using PRE15 & PSE15 the software especially the Organizer has had many instances of "Program not Responding". Since I am not a true computer "geek", I am a little clueless when it comes to the manipulation of software.

Appreciate any guidance on how to best set up my computer.

Sounds like you already have, Ken!

Programs on your C drive. Media and project files on your E drive. I also create a separate directory folder on my E drive for each new project. It keeps all my project and render files in one spot so that cleaning off the old project is as simple as deleting that folder. But it's not necessary.

I'm not sure if it's necessary to both back up your Organizer catalog on your E drive and back C and E to an external drive. Why not back up your catalog as well as your computer to the same external drive? No reason to be redundant.

That said, I have no idea why you'd get a program not responding message. There's certainly nothing obvious in your current configuration.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your input. I am reading "Muvipix Guide to PSE & PRE15" from cover to cover. I sold my Mivipix Guide to PRE12" on ebay and separately sold the software. Any chance I get I recommend your books and website to anyone I talk to about Adobe PSE & PRE.
