Thanks, John.

While there isn't a trial version available now, if you buy it now, you get the serial numbers and links to the downloads now.

I've been trying the 32-bit plug-in with Premiere Elements 8, and it works very well, even though I don't meet the minimum specifications. I have a Pentium 4, 3GHz HT, 2 GB RAM. The standalone version comes with the Pro version plug-ins, but I haven't been able to get it to work yet -- the app hangs when I drop a clip on it, maybe because I don't meet the minimum specifications.

I am not too happy with the upgrade price. The new version upgrade price is the same as I paid for the full version 1. Infact I never really used version 1 because of the rolling shutter issue with HDV and AVCHD footage. This has been resolved in version 2... but it would have been nice if it was a patch to version 1. :)

Like PaulLS I'm also not too happy with that upgrade price. Maybe I'll just continue to truck along with my 2d3 Steadymove in AE and Mercalli v1 until there is a change in the ProDad upgrade pricing regime (ever the optomist :???: )

I finally got the standalone version working. I needed to reinstall the Haali splitter and FFDshow for which Prodad provides links.

One problem with the standalone version is when it comes time to export your stabilized video, you cannot configure the codec settings. For example, if you select to export to WMV, there aren't any other options to configure WMV.

After testing some of my favorite shakey standard definition clips in Premiere Elements 8, I would say that stabilization science has been elevated to a whole new level. The amount of time to stabilize is a lot longer than with Mercalli 1.0 on my Pentium 4, 3GHz HT, I guess because of the intensive analysis of the X, Y, and Z planes. A very fast computer is desired.

Version 2 seems to be more than just improvements to version 1, it's like a whole new system.

Thanks for the update RJ, it makes the otherwise high upgrade price look more palatable. Based on your comments I'll give the trial version a go and maybe bite the upgrade bullet. :-D

Ahhh! I should have made that extra click instead of just assuming that the 'Trial' link was valid, rather than being a place holder.

EDIT: My existing 32 bit Mercalli v1 isn't compatible with 64 bit PPro CS5. If I need to use it (Mercalli) then I have to use PPro CS4. Looks like another persuasive reason to check out Mercalli v2 in CS5 as soon as the trial becomes available.

Have you had a chance to try this out, John? I'm definately in the market for a product for Premiere Pro CS5.

The 20% discount still applies.

No, I didn't buy it. I still have Steadymove which I use in AE. It no longer works in PPro (since CS3 - I think that was the version).

Also in AE you can use the Tracker feature to help steady jerky clips and also the Mocha plug-in.
