Timecode Frame Generator Help

Postby Dave McElderry » Wed Aug 31, 2016 2:01 pm

I know Chuck uses this little utility, but would appreciate help from anyone who's familiar with it. I've used it successfully in the past, but it's been a while and now I can't get it to work. When I output as an AVI I get what appears to be a single frame, staying at 00;00;00;00 instead of the incremental video timecode. I've set the TO field to the end time, which in this case is 00;41;45;48. I think I recall that the color depth is important. It was set at 8 bit from the last time that I used it, but I also tried several other depths with no luck. All I want to do is generate an AVI to put on top of a video that will show elapsed time. Should be simple, but I've messed with this for an hour. :ha:

I did find out that if the output file is larger than 2 GB it won't work. But I reduced the size to 1 minute's worth just to try, and it didn't make any difference. There aren't that many options. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Well, I found the following, which will do what I need. Still don't know why I couldn't get it to work. Would still like to hear from anyone who has any ideas. If I can get it to work I'll make crib notes.

Thanks for the reply Chuck. I guess there's always more than one way to solve a problem. It's frustrating when I know I've made it work before, but I'm moving on.
